Forgot My Slate

Privacy, in plain sight.

What the app uses, what stays on your device, and the choices you have.

01 Overview

NC Productions provides Forgot My Slate for iPhone and iPad. This policy describes how the app handles information and how we handle questions sent to us about the app.

The app does not require an account and contains no advertising, third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. We do not sell or share app information for advertising or cross-app tracking.

02 Information stored on your device

Forgot My Slate saves the information you enter or generate so it is available the next time you open the app. This can include:

  • Production and slate details: production name, scene, shot, take, camera, crew names, company information, date and your selected logo.
  • Take logs: time, timecode, frame rate, sound status, notes, ratings, favorites, production details and optional filming location.
  • Preferences: design, sounds, voice choice, field visibility and other app settings.

This information is stored in the app’s local storage. It may be included in device or iCloud backups according to your Apple device settings. Forgot My Slate does not operate its own cloud sync or production-data server.

03 Optional device permissions

Location. If you enable “Save location with takes” and grant permission, the app uses location while active and stores available coordinates, altitude, accuracy and capture time with a logged take. Location is not required to use the core slate. You can disable this feature in the app or revoke permission in device Settings. Locations already attached to takes remain until those takes are deleted.

Microphone and audio input. External LTC timecode uses the microphone or a connected audio interface with your permission. Input is decoded live on the device. The app does not save audio recordings or upload that audio. Decoded timecode may be saved in a take log. Turn off external LTC or revoke microphone permission to stop this access.

Photos. The system photo picker lets you select a production logo. The app receives the image you choose, rather than access to your entire photo library. A resized copy is stored locally and may appear in reports you export.

Spoken slates. Spoken announcements use Apple’s device speech voices. The app does not send slate text to a third-party voice-generation service. Voice availability and downloads are controlled by Apple and your device.

04 Pro purchases and offer codes

Apple handles Pro purchases, offer-code redemption, payment and refunds through the App Store. Forgot My Slate uses StoreKit to verify whether your Apple Account has access to Pro and to restore that access. NC Productions does not receive your payment-card details from the app.

Apple processes purchase and account information under its own privacy policy. Apple may make sales reports and app diagnostics available to developers according to its services and your sharing settings.

05 When information leaves your device

Exports you choose. PDF and CSV reports may include production names, crew details, notes and precise filming locations. When you share a report, the destination app or recipient handles it under their own practices. Review its contents before sharing. The app removes its temporary report copy after sharing finishes or is cancelled. If the app closes unexpectedly, abandoned temporary reports are cleaned up on the next launch. Copies you save or send to other apps remain under your control and the destination’s practices.

Maps and external links. Choosing “Open in Maps” passes the selected coordinates to Apple Maps. Opening a support or privacy link connects to that website. These services receive the information needed to handle your request.

We do not receive local take logs, logos, microphone audio or location unless you deliberately include information in something you send to us.

06 Your choices and retention

Edit production fields in the slate or Settings. Remove a logo in Settings and delete individual takes in Take Log. Turning a permission off stops future use; it does not remove information already stored in a take.

Local data remains until you remove it or delete the app. Deleting the app removes its local storage; device backups and files you exported or sent to others must be managed separately. Reinstalling the app does not withdraw information already shared.

Because we do not hold your local app data, we cannot retrieve, correct or delete it remotely. If you sent information to NC Productions through support, contact us to request access, correction or deletion, subject to any applicable retention obligations.

07 Support and this website

If you contact NC Productions, we receive the contact details, message and attachments you choose to provide. We use them to respond, troubleshoot the issue and maintain necessary business records. Our communications providers process those messages to deliver and store them. Avoid sending sensitive production information unless it is needed to resolve your request.

This policy and app-support page do not embed analytics, advertising or third-party fonts. Like other websites, our hosting infrastructure may process technical request information, such as IP address, browser information, requested URL and request time, to deliver and protect the website. This is separate from the app’s locally stored production data. Other NC Productions pages may use additional services.

We retain support information for as long as reasonably needed to handle your request and meet applicable obligations. Information may be disclosed when required by law or to protect the security and rights of our users and business.

08 Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app or our practices change. The effective date above identifies the current version. Material changes will be described here and, where appropriate, in the app.
